Aquarium System Repair Technician – Connecticut

Benefits and Compensation

  • Part Time with potential for full time employment.
  • This position pays $16 – $20 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Emergency service pay increase when applicable.
  • Uniform shirts and all service equipment will be provided by AAT.
  • A company vehicle or mileage reimbursement will be provided by AAT.

The applicant must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities without supervision. You must be able to stay on task and be self-motivated with a high degree of attention to detail. Have a strong ability in problem solving, fixing aquarium systems and working with your hands. You must be mechanically inclined, interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests. You must be comfortable and proficient working on your own, unsupervised and repairing aquarium rack systems for nationally recognized stores throughout Connecticut and sometimes New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Responsibilities: You MUST have the ability to;

  • Travel to job site.
  • Problem solve and identify the malfunction or repair issue.
  • Perform repairs and replace tanks, tank stands, and aquarium equipment.
  • Install or replace lighting, replace ballasts, end caps, chillers, pumps, etc.
  • Trouble shoot flow issues and water delivery issues.
  • Perform repairs on small animal habitats.
  • Perform cleaning and repairs to other water features (eg.water walls, fountains & ponds)
  • Perform data entry and accurate record keeping
  • Perform water quality
  • Perform other duties assigned by management team.
  • Operate hand and power tools
  • Drive vehicles and must be able to work evenings and weekends or complete work orders within 24 -96 hours of notification.

Physical Requirements: You MUST have the ability to;

  • Be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Be able to bend or twist your body in order to work in tight spaces.

Abilities, knowledge and skills: You MUST possess;

  • Excellent organizational skills and a great work ethic.
  • Problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Experience in repairing and fixing mechanical systems using tools.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to work on call and complete work requirements within 24 to 96 hours of requests.
  • Experience in plumbing and working with PVC
  • Experience in plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of salt and fresh water aquatic systems.
  • Knowledge of LSS and filtration systems.
  • Maintain a good driving record and a valid drivers license.

  • Aquarium plumbing and filtration processes: 3 years
  • Mechanically inclined; abilitiy to use tools and repair aquatic systems: 3 years

  • Clean driving record
